After 2 days rigorous competition in the ASISC Basket Ball Meet 2012 at The Heritage School Kolkata, Hon’ble Sports and Transport Minister of the State Shri Madan Mitra, felicitated the winners of the competition today. Due to heavy rain, final match was cancelled and the ASISC had decided to make the semi-final winners as the joint winners of the grand tournament. In the Junior Boys category, Bihar & Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh won the championship trophy. In the Junior Girls Category, Karnataka and Maharashtra won the championship trophy. In the Senior Boys category, Bihar & Jharkhand and North West region won the championship trophy. In the Senior Girls category, Maharashtra and Karnataka won the championship trophy.




It is to be remembered that the winners are decided state wise and the schools from different parts of India represented the states. Total 13 states, 87 schools and 445 participants were competing for the championship trophy in the juniors and seniors category for both boys and girls.
Only 4 schools represented West Bengal. “West Bengal has skilled Basket Ball players but unfortunately they study in CBSE and state board schools. For this purpose they were unable to join the competition as this competition only represent the ICSE and ISC schools,” said Shri Madan Mitra praising the excellent sports and infrastructural facilities which Heritage has is unique of its kind in this part of the country. The ceremony was attended by the Trustee members of The Heritage School, Principal, Ms Seema Sapru, Vice Principal Ms Meenakshi Atal, CEO, Shri Pradip Agarwal and other faculty and staff members of the school.
