BHARAT RATNA DR. APJ ABDUL KALAM AT HERITAGE GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS KOLKATA ON 5th JULY 2011 ON THE OCASSION OF CELEBRATION OF 10 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION

Heritage Group of Institutions Kolkata celebrated its 10th Anniversary with former President of India, Bharat Ratna APJ Abdul Kalam on 5th July, 2011 in the Heritage campus. It had been a magnificent moment for the Heritage School and Heritage Institute of Technology where more than 300 students, faculty members and other dignitaries got the opportunity to listen to the speech of APJ Abdul Kalam which is a prized direction for the educational conglomerate after completing 10 years of excellence in education.

The day started with a huge gathering in the football ground of the campus which was decorated with a huge pandal to welcome Chief Guest Bharat Ratna APJ Abdul Kalam. At 3:30 pm, Dr. Kalam reached the campus and was received by the Secretary of Kalyan Bharti Trust, Shri H.K.Chaudhary along with Executive Director of the Trust Shri Probir Roy and CEO, Shri Pradip Agarwal. After the formal reception, Dr. Kalam was escorted by the senior officials of Kalyan Bharti Trust with the principal of the school and the director of the college towards the spot where the unveiling of the Foundation Stone was scheduled. Dr. Kalam unveiled the Foundation Stone marking the 10th year of celebration of success and excellence in education for Heritage Group of Institutions Kolkata. After the grand ceremony, he was escorted to the podium of the stage where he was introduced by the students of the Heritage School and the Heritage Institute of Technology to the audience. The grand celebration started with lighting of lamp and then a welcome address by the secretary of the Trust, Shri H.K.Chaudhary. The audience included Trustee members, the students, faculty members, media people and eminent personalities of the city. Moreover Consul Generals, presidents of clubs and Chamber of Commerce and HR heads of multiple numbers of corporates were present in the huge gathering seated to hear the noble scientist speak to the tune of innovation and excellence in education at West Bengal. Dr. Kalam started his speech with a brief insight of education at the threshold of the new millennium in the areas of science and technology. He motivated the youth of India to achieve the best in the upcoming areas of research and development contributing towards the nation to a greater extent. He opined that quality education for the mass is the only way for nation-building and Heritage Group of Institutions has been moving towards the right direction since 10 years providing quality education for the mass. He also thanked the trustee members for contributing to a large extent in providing free education to poor people through Suryakiran, a free school promoted by Kalyan Bharti trust which had also promoted the Heritage School, the Heritage Academy and the Heritage Institute of technology.
After his speech, there was an interactive session where the audience asked different questions to Dr. Kalam related to the future of education in India focusing more on research and development. At the end , Smt. Seema Sapru, principal, the Heritage School handed over the vote of thanks to Dr. Kalam on this memorable day.
Truly a day to be recalled in the history of Heritage Group of Institutions Kolkata.

EU’s Erasmus Mundus programmes introduced @ Heritage
