Kolkata: From May 10 to 12, The Heritage School Kolkata organised their annual cultural fest Youthopia-2012 in the campus which was inaugurated by Manoj Tiwary, batsman, Kolkata Knight Riders as guest of honour and Harshavardhan Neotia, MD, Bengal Ambuja Housing Development Ltd as the chief guest.

“Passion towards cricket inspired me and I would like to play more for my country,” said Tiwary during his motivational speech for the aspiring youth of the city. His presence attracted huge rounds of applaud from more than 1000 students who attended the inauguration ceremony.

Around 20 schools participated in this grand fest including St James School, St Xavier’s Collegiate School, Birla High School for Boys, St Thomas School, Delhi Public School-New Town, B D Memorial International School, Don Bosco School Park Circus, Akshar, La Martiniere School for Girls, Modern High School, South Point High School, Carmel High School, Future Foundation School and M C Kejriwal Vidyapeeth.

“Every student should have leadership trait,” said Neotia addressing the students during the event. He explained the different leadership traits one has to possess in the present time to be successful. The traits he mentioned were continuous learning, excellence, attitude, versatality and so on. He also recited a poem about life which encouraged each and every individual towards the art of giving to society and working towards its betterment.

H K Chaudhary, chairman of Kalyan Bharti Trust; Vikram Swarup, vice-chairman, Kalyan Bharti Trust and chairman of School Managing Committee, The Heritage School; Seema Sapru, principal, The Heritage School; Probir Roy, executive director, Heritage Institute of Technology; Pradip Agarwal, CEO of Kalyan Bharti Trust; Dr Pranay Chaudhuri, principal, The Heritage Institute of Technology and commander S Dey, the campus administrator of The Heritage School, contributed to the ceremony.

During the fest the students of the schools were involved in various activities to unleash their hidden potentials. The fest also saw performances by DJ Harish, DJ NYK, Rapper Siddharth and Rock Band Raeth.

There were discussions and quiz contests on Swamiji. A sit-and-draw competition was also held.
