Again winners in 2010, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata creates a benchmark in NEN E-week at Bangalore
From February 6 - 13, over 450 educational institutions from the NEN community ( National Entrepreneurs Network) came together across the country to promote entrepreneurship and celebrate the theme 'India: Opportunities Within'. Those institutes that best demonstrated the spirit of E-Week (Entrepreneurs Week) and provided extraordinary leadership to make E - Week a success, received their awards and recognition at Bangalore on Saturday, 13th February, 2010.
During the E Week, a staggering number of 510157 people - students, faculty members, parents and friends took the E Week pledge : " Today I renew my pledge to help build an Entrepreneurial India" and engaged themselves in a host of innovative & creative meaningful events and pursuits.
This year, once again, the E-cell of Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata "OORJA", has won "The Champion's Award in Entrepreneur's Week India 2010" for initiating seminars, workshops and projects related to entrepreneurship in the areas of Solar Energy, Bio-diesel and other sources of renewable energy. Also, for the very first time this year, Heritage Institute of Technology has bagged 'The Most Effective Public Awareness Campaign' award for an event "CAMPARSENIC 24x7 Inc.: Awareness Campaign about Arsenic Pollution in Water- its effects and remedial measures". Heritage Institute of technology organized a wide variety of entrepreneurial activities including Entrepreneur's Talks, Panel Discussions on Opportunities in various sectors in India, Business Plan Competition, Business Bazaar, Debates on Relevant Issues and Awareness Campaign to create awareness on Arsenic Pollution in Water etc. through out the week. The major participants were Bengal College of Engineering and Technology, Durgapur, IPS Academy, Indore, Institute of Engineering and Management Kolkata, Shree Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain College, Bangalore, Mount Carmel, College, Bangalore, Jyoti Nivas College, Bangalore, PSG Institute of Technology, Bangalore, Loyola College, Chennai, NSHM, Kolkata, Bishop Cotton College for Women, Bangalore etc.
The awards were given in a gala ceremony in Jyoti Nivas Auditorium Bangalore on 13th Feb. 2010 in the presence of luminaries like Dr. H. K. Mittal, Advisor and Head, NSTEDB, DSI, GOI; Prof. S. Sadagoppan, Director, IIITB; Mr. Madan Padaki, Co- Founder and CEO, Merit Trac and Ms. Laura Parkin, ED, NEN. The energy, creativity, enthusiasm and drive demonstrated by all concerned at Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata has been overwhelming. It is a culture at Heritage, since its inception in 2001, to engage itself and its resources in pursuing newer areas of research and development. Faculty members act as catalysts in nurturing and accelerating the students' performance in academics and extra curricular activities. No wonder that Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata through its efforts and achievements, has clearly earned these prestigious E- Week India 2010 awards.
